Cost of Revision Liposuction

You may think that one liposuction procedure is all anyone needs, but liposuction revisions may sometimes be needed. You may have lumps, bumps, or irregularities or be too asymmetrical or worse.  The cost of revision liposuction should be considered while planning your initial surgery.

Be reasonable and be honest with yourself and your surgeon. You should not demand a revision liposuction for unjustifiable reasons.  In the weeks right after your surgery during your liposuction recovery, your body will not be perfect: you will be swollen, you will have scars, and will need to be patient while you heal.  Improvement is what you are ultimately after, but receiving superior care and respect are your rights as a patient.

Sit down with your surgeon and discuss the possibility of a revision liposuction surgery after a reasonable time frame. Actually, you should discuss the possibility of revision surgery during your plastic surgery consultation with the surgeon. Ask then about his or her policies on the matter and establish an agreement on the cost of revision liposuction before you pay for your primary surgery.  This will cover all bases if you need an additional procedure.  Determining this in advance and getting it in writing will help you out in the long run. More than likely there will be no need for a second surgery, but you should always prepare for the worst and hope for the best in any situation.

Determine who will be financially responsible for the cost of revision liposuction in the unlikely event you need a revision. Some surgeons will not cover the cost of liposuction the second time around or only if their technique was at fault. Some surgeons will cover only their fee, but not the costs of anesthesia or the surgical center, others cover everything but surgical supplies, while others cover everything but medications and lab work.
