Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes for the ride home. You do NOT want to be constricted and remember if you have a compression garment on your clothes should fit comfortably over the garment and your swelling.
High Performance Absorbent Underpads to lay across the seat. These keep your seats from getting ruined if you will be draining. Alternately you can use old, dark towels however they do not have a leak barrier.
Pillows to prop up against you, just be sure they are older or pillow cases which are water or stain proof. Alternatively, you may wrap them in a kitchen trash bag and then place them inside two pillowcases for comfort and stain protection.
A bucket or pail with a lid - essential if you become nauseated.
Bottled water - to stave off nausea and cleanse your mouth if you do vomit.
Packets of low sodium crackers to help with nausea.
Paper towels or baby wipes in case you DO get sick or leak on anything other than your intended absorbent pads.
Have pain medications close in case you need them on the way home
Sunglasses, you may be very photosensitive due to the medications or anesthesia. You will more than likely want to sleep or be left alone and not seen during the ride home.
If you are coherent you may want to bring a Discman or MP3 player (or a "walkman" if you don't have either of the above). Or maybe a book - whatever to pass the time if you do not plan on sleeping.
