Cellulite RejuveSkin Treatment™ No More Orange Peel Thighs?
Could the Cellulite RejuveSkin Treatment™ be the answer to our cellulite prayers? This new procedure just may be what many of us are looking for. No more wearing sarongs and long shorts to the beach! No more cottage cheese thighs! As RejuveSkin becomes more widely available, it may prove to be able to permanently get rid of pesky cellulite.
Cellulite is the lumpy, bumpy fat caused by superficial deposits of fat that are pressed up against or are constricted by bands of connective tissue that run from the muscles to the skin. Cellulite is not a type of fat and is no different physiologically than any other fat in the body. It is regular fat that is constricted by bands of the vertical fibrous connective tissue (called fibrous septae).
RejuveSkin Cellulite Treatment is a surgical means to remove the causes of cellulite -- the fibrous septae. The fibrous septae, which are short, constrictive and cause your skin to dimple, are cut, which surgically releases the tissue to a normal contour. The process was invented by Stephen X. Giunta, MD, FACS.
To be a good candidate for RejuveSkin, you must be in general good health, have no connective tissue disorders or other diseases, and have realistic expectations. According to Dr. Giunta, the results are very permanent and rarely, if ever, need a touch up. The treatment costs about $4,000.
In RejuveSkin, two or so small incisions are made on each side of the areas to be treated and a special tool called a dermasector is inserted to cut the septae and connective bands that cause the fat to dimple. There may be slight discomfort, but this can be remedied with the prescribed pain medications. Patients need to wear a compression garment for a time after the procedure.
