The Long Ride Home
You may think you are going to scream in pain for every pebble in the rode but it really isn't so bad. If you've had Sedation or even Twilight, or even an oral sedative like Valium, you won't probably remember much. There are things you can do to make this trip more comfortable and the shorter the ride the better off you ware. But don't' be afraid to travel for a good surgeon. IN other words don't settle and don't bargain shop.
If you are flying there are a few changes such as no Vitamin K supplementation, usually. Vitamin K assists with clotting and since you will more than likely be sitting for long periods of time (a no no in itself) a supplement to further promote clotting isn't going to be beneficial. If you develop a clot in your leg it could break through and get stuck in a number of disastrous places. Same goes for a loooong ride home - out of town. Ask your surgeon if you should get out and stretch your legs a little if you live very far away.
Here are some tips on what to bring or do for a more comfortable and clean journey...
